Atmore man arrested for drugs

An Atmore man was arrested for multiple drug charges after an investigation into illegal drug activity in the vicinity of Avenue E, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Chief Chuck Brooks said an investigation was initiated and surveillance of the area found drug activity to be present. He said a search warrant was secured on May 19, 2016.

“Officers with the Atmore Police Department, Poarch Police Department, Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and K-9 Officer Ajax assisted in serving the search warrant,” he said. “Officers entered the premises and a subsequent search led them to locate 90 grams of marijuana and several hydrocodone pills with a street value of $700.”

Brooks said Justin Lacy, 22, of Atmore, was arrested at the scene and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana I.

Lacy was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center without incident.
