Charles Wesley “Road Buddy” Bradford

Mr. Charles Wesley “Road Buddy” Bradford, 61, of Atmore, died Mon., Aug. 1, 2016, suddenly at his residence.

A native and longtime resident of Atmore, he attended Escambia County Training School. He enjoyed beautifying lawns around town and detailing cars.

He is survived by three sisters, Gola (Minister McKinley) Dailey, Betty Stewart and Dorita (Roger) Purifoy, all of Atmore; two brothers, James (Sarah) Bradford of Spring, Texas and Aquilla (Brunetta) Bradford Jr. of Atmore; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were held Aug. 6, 2016 from the Longmire-Jones Memorial Chapel of Turner Funeral Chapel with Minister McKinley Dailey officiating. Inhumation was in Stallworth Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel LLC directing.

Douglas Lambert

Mr. Douglas Lambert, 74, passed away on Mon., Aug. 1, 2016, at a local nursing home.

He was born on Jan. 24, 1942, in Fruitdale, and was a resident of Atmore for most of his life.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Nellie Ann Lambert; parents, Angus Lambert and Emma Presley Reed; and one sister, Helen Gipson Burkett.

He is survived by his two sons; Doug (Dana) Lambert of Forney, Texas and Aaron (Kim) Lambert of Molino, Fla.; one daughter; Rhonda (Hubert) Rolin of Atmore; three brothers; Donald (Judy) Lambert of Walnut Hill, Fla., John Earl Reed of Houston, Texas and James Reed of Cleveland, Texas; four sisters; Gaynell Vaughn of Arab, Viola Conn of Atmore, Lagatha Lilly of New Caney, Texas and Wanda (Kerry) Vowels of Houston, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and very special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Aug. 5, 2016, from the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Gipson and the Rev. Ricky Tedder officiating.

Burial followed at the Serenity Garden Cemetery.

Visitation was held Aug. 4 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Brandi Lewis, Brittany Hartley, Traci Boyington, Kelli Boyington, Jessica Lambert, Courtney Lambert and Lexus Lambert.

Honorary pallbearers were LiLi Hartley, Kylee Brantley and Sadie Lambert.

Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes LLC of Atmore was in charge of all arrangements.

 

Ethel McKenzie

Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel McKenzie, 85, of Atmore, will be announced by Turner Funeral Chapel LLC.

Mrs. McKenzie died on Tues., Aug. 9, 2016, at her residence.

 

James Edward Barnhill

Mr. James Edward Barnhill, 82, passed away on Sun., Aug. 7, 2016, in Atmore.

Mr. Barnhill was a native of Atmore, a former resident of Sacramento, Calif. for 30 years and a resident of Atmore since 1992.

He was a member of the Poarch Creek Indians, was with the gaming commission for five years, loved to garden, never met a stranger and was humorous. He was a member of the Gospel Light Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Rosasco and Ruby Barnhill; and a brother, Roy Lee Barnhill.

He is survived by his two sons, James Terrell (Kim) Barnhill of Flomaton and Frank (Renae) Odom of Range; two step-sons, David Lamar (Kathy) Bergans of Grass Valley, Calif. and Daniel Odell Bergans of Roseville, Calif.; three daughters, Shirley “Pug” (Aubrey) Roberson of Poarch, Valerie Barnhill (Dean) Taylor of Walnut Hill, Fla. and Julie (Sean) Bass of Dallas, Texas; three brothers, Dillard (Shirley) Barnhill of Atmore, Carl (Katie) Barnhill of Atmore and Kenny Barnhill of Atmore; one sister, Vernie Lee (Marty) Gehman of Atmore; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be Fri., Aug. 12, 2016, at 10 a.m. from the Gospel Light Church with the Rev. Marty Gehman officiating.

Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be tomorrow, Thurs., Aug. 11, 2016, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Gospel Light Church.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Shawn Barnhill II, Jordan Chase Barnhill, Cameron Garrett Barnhill, Reese McNairn, Austin Walker and Micah McNairn.

Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher Shawn Barnhill, Scotty Lynn Walker, James Roberson, TJ Barnhill, Jessie Bass, Cody Bass, Matt Bergans, Ben Odom, Chase Odom and Dillion Odom.
