Russell Robinson is running for the Atmore city council seat for District 2 in the upcoming municipal election on Aug. 23.

“Elect me to serve as your councilman for District 2,” Robinson said. “I will bring forth innovative ideas and provide a dedicated service in helping to maintain and improve our quality of daily living in Atmore. There are several objectives that I will work to achieve if I am elected.”

Those objectives include addressing the needs and concerns of citizens in District 2, working to contribute to the continuous growth of our city, helping to encourage the growth of the Rivercane Development, working to help maintain and improve the quality of daily life for our youth, helping to address the needs and concerns of our elderly and disabled citizens and collaborating with the Poarch Creek Indians in contributing to Atmore’s growth.

“Through working to achieve these objectives, I would help promote unity in the community so that Atmore can continuously experience progress and positive growth,” Robinson said.

Robinson was born in Boston, Mass., and moved to Atmore at age 9.

“This is when I learned to value hard work and a desire to help others,” he said.

Robinson is a 1987 graduate of Escambia County High School, and he received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Alabama State University.

Robinson is married to Keyshone, and the couple has two daughters.

Robinson taught special education in Lee County for 23 years, and is currently teaching at Escambia County Middle School.
