Movies, when done well, can take the viewer to wherever they lead.

Ever since I can remember, movies have been a big part of my life.

My cousin and I would sit and watch movies — from horror to action — all the time when we hung out together.

Recently, I purchased a film that I had almost given up hope for. The movie, didn’t get a lot of good reviews when it premiered last March.

Upon watching the film for the first time, I thought it was entertaining and enjoyed it throughout.

Watching it a second time, I realized that I was losing faith in its ability to take me to another place entirely.

The purchase I made was for the extended ultimate edition cut of “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”

A three-hour long movie didn’t feel like a three-hour long movie. This version, as my friends say, “is the essential edition” of the movie.

There was never a dull moment in the movie and it kept pace from the start.

The story was told a lot better and things made a lot more sense when watching it for the third time. It’s like putting a puzzle together. The pieces started to come together quite nicely.

Thinking back on it, I wish that we had gotten the essential edition of the film back when it was released in theaters.

The movie had everything I like — good story, good acting, good cinematography, etc.

I could go on and on about “BvS,” but alas.

What makes a movie good to you? What about movies helps you escape everyday life?

This edition of “BvS” helped me carve out three hours of my life that I don’t want back.
