Mobile man arrested on theft, robbery charges

A Mobile man was arrested on strong arm robbery and theft of property charges after using Facebook Marketplace as an opportunity to steal money from a customer last week, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Chief Chuck Brooks said a local female resident met with the Mobile man, later identified through subpoenas from the social media website as Nigah Edwards, at a business on Highway 21 north to purchase a pair of shoes from him.

“The male subject approached her vehicle with the shoes in which she agreed to purchase,” Brooks said. “The male subject (Edwards) had the items posted on Facebook for $100, but demanded $125 from the female…”
