Escambia Academy dropped to No. 7 in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association AISA football poll, which was released today.

The Cougars (4-2) fell 21-20 in overtime to Resurrection Catholic, Miss. in a close contest. Both teams were held scoreless in the second half of the game.

Bessemer Academy and Autauga Academy are the top two teams in AISA.

EA is open this wee, and will travel to play Clarke Prep Academy for a shot at playing for the right to host the first round of the AISA Class 2A playoffs.

The Cougars will then play Autauga and Bessemer on Oct. 21 and 28, respectively.
