Joseph Allen Walker

Joseph Allen Walker, 69, of Atmore, passed away on Thurs., Oct. 6, 2016, in

Pensacola, Fla.

He was born on Jan. 30, 1947, in McCullough to the late Roy and Perry Lee Walker. He served in the United States Air force during Vietnam, retired from the Army National guard and from Pensacola Naval Air Station, and was a member of Atmore V.F.W. and Presley Street Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Leroy Walker.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Arieta Bell Walker of Atmore; one son, Tim (Carrie)

Walker of Atmore; one daughter, Anita (Randy) Lucas of Bratt, Fla.; one brother, Cecil

(Sue) Walker of Waynesville, N.C.; one sister, Jean (Mack) Myrick of Little Rock, Ark.; sister in law, Ethel Walker of Atmore; six grandchildren, Carrie Marie, Jason, Brittney,Colton, MacKenzie and Jonathon.

Services were held on Sun., Oct. 9, 2016, from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Grindle officiating. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery,

Active pallbearers were Wayne Walker, Jerry Walker, Michael Myrick, Derek Bell, Blake Bell and Kevin Bell. Honorary pallbearers were from the Atmore V.F.W.

Family received friends, Oct. 9 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Inc. was in charge of all arrangements.

Marie Ramer

Marie Ramer, 81, of Rabun, passed away on Thurs., Oct. 6, 2016, at her residence.

She was born Oct. 14, 1934, to the late Benjamin and Girdie Andrews. She was the founding pastor of New Testament Church in Rabun.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Otis Ramer; daughter, Linda Shiver; son, Jay Kenny Milstid; great-granddaughter, Hannah Leah Schachle; and numerous brothers and sisters.

She is survived by one brother, Benjamin Andrews Jr. of Mobile; daughters, Gladys (Robert) Bartley of Atmore, Brenda (Bubba) Rolin of Bay Minette, Carolyn Hall of Rabun and Sharon Ramer (John Etheredge) of Rabun; son in law, Danny Shiver of Lottie; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews, friends and extended family members.

She loved God, family, church and served them all with a servant’s heart.

Funeral services were held Oct. 8, 2016 from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bubba Rolin and Bro. Tony Schachle officiating. Burial followed in Bryars-McGill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Charles Bercier IV, Hunter Smith, Chris Gill, Keith Bryars, Tim Bryars, Jason Bryars, Charlie Stallworth and Danny Glenn,Jr.

Family received friends, Oct. 8 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Inc. was charge of all arrangements.

Mary Louise Rhodes

Mary Louise Rhodes (Willis) of Atmore, passed away abruptly on Oct. 8, 2016, in Mobile after a sudden hospitalization.

She was born Jan. 29, 1949 in Evergreen, to the late, Leroy Sr. and Ida Pearl Willis. She attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

At the time of her death, she was working fervently to become a reinstated member of the Jehovah’s organization. She had faith in God’s promise that “there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eddie Rhodes Sr., a son, LeTroy Rhodes; brothers, Henry Lee, Willie Ray and Don Larry; sister, Evelyn; and longtime companion, Eddie James.

She is survived by daughters, Sandra Willis of St. Paul, Minn. and Tanya Rhodes of Atmore; son, Eddie Jr. (Jeannie), also of St. Paul; two sisters, Annie Pearl (Johnnie) and Letha Faye of Atmore; brothers, Leroy Jr. of Atmore and Malcolm Charles (Mary) of Green Bay, Wisc.; grandsons Joe, James, Malik, Evan and Brandon; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sat., Oct. 15, 2016, at 11 a.m. Visitation is this Fri., Oct. 14, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Christian Memorial Funeral Home.
