Quite a busy week at paper, in Atmore

Last week was quite a busy one at The Atmore Advance.
Each of us had our distinct working role to play while getting ready for today’s edition of the newspaper, along with what’s coming up in the near future.
At present, we are gearing up for our annual 2017 Progress edition, which always features the community’s best.
A theme has been selected, and we are anxious to show you what we’ve been brewing. Expect the annual edition to hit the racks on Wed., March 1.
With the upcoming special editions on the horizon, this editor has been pretty busy keeping up with local news and sports.
It’s kind of like I’ve been having a day and night job. By day, I’m the news editor, and by night I’m the sports editor.
Having to keep up with both has been keeping me on the road quite a lot.
Last Tuesday, I traveled to Fairhope to watch Escambia County take on FHS, and the next day, I drove to Montgomery for Escambia Academy’s game in the Elite 8 State Tournament. In between, I spent the day accumulating what I could on the news side of things for this week, namely the Leader in Me program story at A.C. Moore Elementary.
By the time I got back to Atmore late Wednesday night, I was pretty tired, yet exhilarated at the same time.
I really don’t mind traveling for work. I find it quite fun. Driving, as readers know, is something I enjoy and look forward to on trips. It allows me to think about the upcoming event, and what I need to do to execute a great story. Driving also allows me to catch up on my favorite podcasts, too.
The weekend approached and I was so thankful. I caught up on some sleep and TV shows I had missed last week.
On Sunday, I did my usual afternoon work before Super Bowl LI to get ahead for a new week.
