Holman employee arrested for contraband

A William C. Holman Correctional Facility employee was arrested for attempting to smuggle illegal contraband into the prison, according to the Alabama Department of Corrections.
“During a patrol of the facility’s parking lot, a dog assigned to the ADOC K-9 Drug Unit alerted on a vehicle owned by Curtis Andrews,” ADOC Public Information Manager Bob Horton said.
Horton said Andrews is from Mobile, and after detaining him, investigators found several packages wrapped in tap containing 179 grams of synthetic marijuana and methamphetamine concealed in his clothing.
Horton said Andrews was charged with possession of a controlled substance, promoting prison contraband and trafficking.
Andrews, who managed Holman’s canteen, resigned after his arrest and was takent to the Escambia County Jail, Horton said.
Andrews had been employed by the ADOC since 1990.
