EA wins Meet

Escambia Academy won its home-opening track and field meet on March 1 over Bessemer, Glenwood and Clarke Prep.

The back-to-back state champions finished the varsity meet with 246 points. BA came in second with 132, and CPS had 62 points in third. GA finished with 46 points.

In girls, Glenwood finished first with 97 points. BA and EA finished second and third, respectively, with 79 and 78 points, and CPS finished fourth with 66 points.

Those who finished in the top three of their respective event include:

• Kris Brown, first place in boys 200-meter dash (23.17 seconds)

• Jace Daniels, first place in boys 800-meter dash (2 minutes, 22.32 seconds)

• EA, first place, in boys 3,200 meter relay (10:12.69)

• EA’s Fred Flavors and Chase Bell, first place in boys 100-meter hurdles

• Trae Lee, first place; Cameron Armentor, second place; and Thomas Knight, third place in boys shot put

• Cassidy Murphy, first place in girls shot put

• Kaile Gumapac, first place in girls high jump

• Murphy, first place in girls discus

• Patrick McGhee, first place in boys long jump

• Armentor, first place in boys discus

• Nathan Reagan and Daniels, first and second place, respectively, in boys high jump

• EA, first place in 400-meter relay

• Brown, first place in 100-meter dash (10.55 seconds), and Reagan, second place, (12.29 seconds)

• McGhee, first place in triple jump

• Gumapac, second place in girls long jump
