Bessie Forman McElreth

Ms. Bessie Forman McElreth, 93, a native of Bladon Springs and a resident of Mobile, passed away on Sun., March 19, 2017, at a Mobile hospital.

She was a faithful member of the Revelation Missionary Baptist Church in Mobile and a loyal listener of WGOK gospel radio station.

She is survived by a daughter, Ms. Charlie Mae Johnson of Mobile; two sons, Mr. Elsie (Amy) Foreman of Boston, Mass. and Mr. George Foreman of Mobile; a host of grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday March 25, 2017 at 2 p.m. from the Revelation Missionary Baptist Church located at 1711 Taylor Lane Mobile Alabama with the Rev. Dr. David Frazier Sr. officiating. Interment will be held in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Theodore.

Mayberry Funeral Home of Atmore is in charge of arrangements.

John Preston Madison

John Preston Madison “Bubbie” went home to Glory Fri., Feb. 10, 2017, at 10:38 a.m. He was 63 years old.

Madison was born Mon., Nov. 9, 1953, in Atmore and graduated in Atmore in the class of 1972. He was also a Native American of the Creek Tribe.

Family preceding Madison to Glory include his parents, John P. “J.P.” Madison and Bennie “Cooter” Madison; two brothers, Sonny and Kyle; and two sisters, Net and Beth.

Madison’s life on Earth brought much love and peace to those who knew him. He served the Zales Jewelry Company for 30 years and sold thousands of diamond wedding rings to happy couples in love. He also found love for over 40 years and was legally married Sun., Sept. 20, 2015, at noon by friend Mayor Jimmy Weekley of Key West, Fla.

He is survived by his spouse, Russell L. Marx.

Madison was cremated at his request by Davis Watkins Funeral Home in Crestview, Fla. Interment was held in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Julia Ann McGhee Stacey

Julia Ann McGhee Stacey, 74, of Atmore, passed away Fri., March 17, 2017, at her residence.

She was a die operator at Masland Carpets, and was born in Atmore on May 14, 1942 to the late Doris M. “Buck” and Lunie Mae Presley McGhee. She was a member of Poarch Community Church, and a member of the Poarch Creek Indians.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Stacey; sisters, Hattie Mae McGhee and Francis Robbins; and brothers, John A. McGhee and Clifton McGhee.

Survivors are her children, Juliette (Lary) Haikey of Oklahoma, Rodney McGhee of Poarch,

Lathaniel (Pam) McGhee of Pensacola, Fla., Ruthie (Ben) Wiggins of Old Salem and Stephanie

(Keith) Bryan of Poarch; two sisters, Marie Martin and Maxine Ellen Johnson; and a sister in law, Bernice McGhee, all of Poarch; 16 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Mon., March 20, 2017, from Atmore Memorial Chapel with Bro. Joel White and Bro Trevoe Daughtry officiating. Interment was held in Judson Creek Indian Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers were Josh Martin, Brad Martin, Mason Dean, Jason Griffey, Scott Griffey, Mikey Griffey, James White, Bo Slate, Justin Norman, Jerry Faircloth, Kenny Williams and Chris McGhee. Honorary pallbearers were Gary McGhee, Dewit McGhee, Gorden McGhee, Daniel Boone McGhee, Tony Wright, Nathan Martin, Nelson Martin, Billie Ray Robbins, Aubrey Robinson, Ronnie Rolin and Lamar Wilson.

Family received friends, March 19, 2016, at the Poarch Community Church.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Inc. was in charge of all arrangements.

Lewis P. Oden

Mr. Lewis P. Oden, 58, passed away on Sat., March 11, 2017, in Bourg, La.

He had fought a long battle with cancer and was in home hospice at the time of his death. Family and friends surrounded him when he went home to meet the Lord.

He was a native of Mobile and although he lived many places, he considered Brewton his home.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Dolores Oden; and fathers, Henry Roberson and Perry Oden.

He is survived by his wife, Marcia Tipton Oden of Brewton; his two daughters, Jolene Cosey and her husband, Michael Cosey of Brewton, and Amber Gilling and her husband, Leroy Gilling of Chauvin, La.; his three sons, Robert Oden and his wife, Lindsey Oden of Washington, D.C., Jerod Oden and his wife, Tabitha Oden of Brewton, and Justin Oden of Brewton; his brother, David Oden of Beatrice and sister, Tammy Oden Barnhill of Roundrock, Texas; as well as his 10 beautiful grandchildren.

Funeral services were held March 19, 2017, from the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Burial followed at the Flomaton Cemetery.

Visitation was held March 18 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Melbus Irene Rayborn Roberts

Mrs. Melbus Irene Rayborn Roberts, 81, passed away on Mon., March 13, 2017, in Mobile.

She was a native of Bay Minette and a resident of Atmore for most of her life. She retired from Vanity Fair with 20 years of service.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Erby Lee Roberts; a son, Brent E. Roberts; daughter, Marilyn F. Parker; two sisters; and two brothers and son in law, Lawrence Capers.

She is survived by one son, Darrell (Karen) Roberts of Ozark, Mo.; two daughters, Lettie Marie Capers of Gonzales, La. and Deborah (Michael) Doucet of Prairieville, La.; one brother, Jimmy Rayborn of Thomasville; one sister, Bobbie Pearson of Poach; 10 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held March 16, 2017 from the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Welch and Sister Helen Stewart officiating.

Burial followed at the Guy’s Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation was held March 16 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Aaron Roberts, Gregory Capers, Bradley Capers, Erby Parker, Nick Roberts and Dempsey Rolin.

Honorary pallbearers were Ronald Rolin and Bernard Ledlow.

Timmy Danny White

Mr. Timmy Danny White, 52, passed away on Mon., March 13, 2017, in Bay Minette.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Bay Minette. He was a member of the Full Power Holiness Church.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Shirley White; and his first wife, Jacquelin Michelle Boatwright White.

He is survived by his father, Malcolm V. White of Bay Minette; wife, Janella White of Bay Minette; two sons, T.J. (Jessica) White of Bay Minette and A.J. (Emily) Gardner of Bay Minette; four daughters, Becky (Shawn) Cooper of Bay Minette, Samantha (Jason) Daniels of Bay Minette, Tiffany (Jacob) Clabough of Paxton, Fla. and Sierra White of Bay Minette; three brothers, Jimmy (Casey) White of Bay Minette, Eugene (Jane) White of Perdido and Mack (Sherry) White of Bay Minette; two sisters, Jan Mosley of Bay Minette and Winona (Donnie) McDonald of Bay Minette; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held March 17, 2017 at the Full Power Holiness Church with the Rev. Joe Welch and the Rev. J.P. Lambert officiating.

Burial followed at the Pine Grove Cemetery.

Visitation was held March 16 at the Full Power Holiness Church.

Pallbearers were Gary McDonald, Danny White, Brent White, Michael White, B.J. Blackmon and Mickey Moore.

Honorary pallbearers were J.P. Shivers, Donald Brown and Jackson Porter.
