Some $4.4 million of scholarships have been awarded to the class of 2017 at Escambia County High School, according to school officials.
ECHS Counselor Ashley Trawick said she’s so proud of this hard-working group of students.
“They just did anything we asked them to do,” she said. “Anytime we asked them to fill out a form or look into a scholarship, they did it. We had a lot of days in here where we were rushing to meet deadline.”
The scholarship total is the total amount that the seniors were awarded from different schools.
Principal Dennis Fuqua said plans are in the works to top this goal next year.
Trawick said the goal to amass more than this year’s scholarship total is doable.
“We’re going to have to hit the ground running,” she said. “If we get another class that works as hard as this one does, we’ll have another good year.”
