Two Flomaton residents were severely injured in separate fireworks accidents this week, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.

Chief Deputy Mike Lambert said 40-year-old Grady Barnes’ fingers were blown off at a residence on Wolf Log Road on Monday night, and then a teenager received similar injuries at a residence on Lafala Lane on Tuesday night.

“He was there at a residence enjoying the fourth festivities and was involved with an accident involving fireworks and received injuries to his hand,” Lambert said about the teenager. “He was taken to D.W. McMillan Hospital by personal vehicle and then lifeflighted to USA Medical Center, where he is listed in stable condition and receiving treatment to his hand.”
