40% chance of showers, storms today

The total solar eclipse today might be blocked by some clouds as there is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms for Atmore, according to the National Weather Service.

The showers and thunderstorms are expected to arrive after 1 p.m. The solar eclipse is set for approximately 1:30 p.m.

Four-hundred-and-thirty Escambia County Middle School students will start viewing the eclipse starting at 1 p.m. in 10 minute increments. Some 116 parents are also slated to attend today’s event, barring the weather.
