The city of Atmore’s Halloween Day hours run from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tues., Oct. 31.

Police Chief Chuck Brooks said extra patrols will be out to ensure everybody has a safe night.

Brooks made the following recommendations to help keep children safe during Halloween night:

• all children must be accompanied by an adult

• do not allow children to have suspicious items

• if an item is a dangerous substance, call the APD at 251-368-9141

• don’t allow children to eat anything not properly packaged

• carry a flashlight

• children need to wear light clothing, and make sure their costumes are visible

• children don’t need to run in the streets

“We want everybody to have fun and enjoy the evening, but we also want to keep everybody safe,” he said.
