Northview played for its seniors on Nov. 3 and pulled away with a 53-38 win over Snook Christian.

NHS head football coach Derek Marshman said it was a good win for the seniors.

“They deserve it,” he said. “We can’t talk about quantity, but we can talk about quality. It was really important for them to go out on top.”

By halftime, the Chiefs led 28-14.

Marshman said the win is a big momentum boost for the offseason.

“Football is the only sport we play you can end on a win,” he said. “We can use that as a spring board for our program and something to build on.”

Marshman said he was sure to tell the seniors about holding on and cherishing their final memory on the field at home.

“We were able to give a lot of seniors playing time,” he said, adding that a couple had their first career start.

As a team, the Chiefs compiled 563 yards on the ground. Jayden Jackson rushed for 209 yards on 16 carries and scored one touchdown; Tim Bush rushed for 164 yards on 10 carries and scored three touchdowns; and Aunterrio Minor rushed for 112 yards on 13 carries and scored a touchdown. Justin Helton also had a rushing touchdown in the win.

Quarterback Seth Killam threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to Adam Aliff, and Jackson returned the opening kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown.

Defensively, Jason Fischer had 6 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 sack and an interception. Lance McLaughlin had 14 tackles to lead the Chiefs, along with 4 tackles for a loss.

NHS finished its season 2-8.
