Brooks said the arrest stemmed from an incident that occurred in the early morning hours of Sat., Dec. 2.

“At approximately 7:40 a.m., the Atmore Police Department was called to the 400 block of South Main Street in response to two people being held against their will, and robbed by a known associate of the couple,” he said in a release.

Brooks said the victims told the APD that Dubose knocked on their door at around 2 a.m. and said he needed a place to sleep for the night.

“Dubose was allowed in the home by the female victim,” he said. “Dubose then forced the female victim into a bedroom, where the male victim was sleeping.  Dubose then made both victims lie in the bed, where he tied them up using the bed sheets. Dubose then took an undisclosed amount of cash and a vehicle belonging to the victims.”

Brooks said later in the morning, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Dubose returned to the victims’ home with the vehicle.

“At that point, Atmore Police was called and Dubose was arrested,” he said.

Dubose was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
