EA players compete in All-Star game

Escambia Academy’s Louie Turner scored two touchdowns and Fred Flavors put up a stellar performance on defense to help lead the AISA West All-Stars to a 38-0 victory over the East on Dec. 1 at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.

Turner scored on runs of 10 and 6 years in the second and third quarters. Flavors nabbed an interception with more than 10 minutes left in the game.

For their performance on the gridiron during the game, Turner was named the most outstanding offensive back, and Flavors was named the most outstanding defensive back.

Turner, Flavors, Jo Nance and Jamie Welker started for the West team.

West quarterback Griffin McKenzie found Dalton McKenzie for a touchdown pass with 5:40 left in the first quarter to get things going.

After Turner’s first touchdown, West led 13-0, and McKenzie then added a 65-yard touchdown rush.

At the break, West led the East 19-0.

Turner then scored his second touchdown and McKenzie added a 41-yard scoring rush.

Flavors’ interception led to a Gavin Kane 4-yard rushing touchdown with 10:25 left in the game.
