Vroom! Vroom! Vroom!

That’s what’s going to be heard on Saturday morning during the 17th annual L.A. Bikers Toyz for Kidz ride.

The annual ride is held each year to give donations to kids in needy families. On Oct. 19, the L.A. Bikers held a successful auction to help raise funds to purchase toys for the ride.

Registration for the ride is from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. with the ride leaving David’s Catfish at 10 a.m. rain or shine. The ride ends at the PWC Building, at 106 East Ave., Atmore, where lunch will be provided.

According to The Atmore Advance archives, Jody Powell Jeter, who serves as the coordinator for the ride, said previously that the bikers want to help others who are trying to help themselves.

Jeter said she and a group with Toyz for Kidz visit area schools beforehand and asks for four kids’ names they think are in need. She said they’ll then contact the family and not only provide gifts for the child, but for the other kids in the family.

Jeter then goes and buys the toys the kids requested.

From there, she organizes the toys by location of where they’ll be dropped off and by family.

Stops include destinations in Bratt, Fla., Flomaton and Atmore, etc.
