ECHS girls finish runner up in area tourney

MONROEVILLE — Escambia County’s girls basketball team fell 56-20 to Monroe County to finish as the runner up in the Class 4A, Area 2 tournament tonight.
Monroe County led 12-2 after the first period, and 28-13 at halftime. The Lady Tigers outscored ECHS 24-3 in the third period.
Jayla Adams led ECHS with nine points. Angelica Clark contributed with six.
Antania Hayes led MCHS with 21 points, and Kiyah Boykin chipped in 17.
Sub-regional action for the Lady Blue Devils will tip on Monday night.
