An Atmore man suffered minor injuries after crashing his car in the water on Highway 90 and Woodbine Road early this morning in Santa Rosa County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Lt. Eddie Elmore, public information officer with the FTP, said in a release that Daniel Taylor, 47, of Atmore, was traveling east on Highway 90 when his 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe traveled onto the grass median approximately 2 miles west of Woodbine Road.

Elmore said Taylor’s vehicle then collided head on with a guardrail, which protects vehicles from enterting the water between two bridges.

“The impact with the guardrail sent his vehicle into the air before entering the water,” he said. “His vehicle came to a final position of rest full submerged in water between the two bridges.”

Elmore said the eastbound lane of Highway 90 was closed while wrecker crews were on scene attempting to move the vehicle from the water.

The wreck is currently under investigation by the FTP.
