Escambia Academy beat Fort Dale twice in a tournament last week in Greenville.

The Lady Cougars beat Fort Dale, the tournament, 4-3 in pool play, and 12-6 in tournament play on Saturday.

Lexi Hollinger led EA with five RBIs in the second win over Fort Dale.

In other pool play action, EA lost 8-7 to Lowndes Academy, 7-0 to Hooper and 10-0 in five innings to Crenshaw Christian.

In EA’s second game on Saturday, the Lady Cougars fought hard against No. 1 seed LA, but lost 3-0.

“The girls played with heart, but have to work on correcting simple errors,” EA softball coach Mandi Carter said. “They made great plays and were strong at the plate. I’m happy with how they pushed through the tournament and worked as a team.”

EA left fielder Kaile Gumapac was named to the all tournament team.
