Twenty-three youth from Grace Fellowship’s Ignite Student Ministry are going to Puerto Rico this June, and funds from this year’s Mayfest 5K will go toward paying for the trip, officials said today.

Coordinator Jonathan McMath said the trip to Puerto Rico, which will be from June 16-23, includes youth helping with clean up and light construction work, but the main focus is helping with a Bible camp at a local church.

From now until the day of the Mayfest 5K, which is Sat., May 5, registration cost is $30 per runner.

McMath said the reason why the cost increased is because each runner’s bib is going to have a chip to help record start and finish times. He said About Time Events of Montgomery is taking care of timing and entertaining during the 5K.

The 5K walk, run and roll event will start at 8 a.m. on the road by the softball fields at the park.

Registration forms can be picked up and dropped off at Grace Fellowship, the Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce and can also be found online at www.active.com.
