Stories never heard before will be told at the Poarch Creek Indians’ Evening with the Elders event.
The event will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on June 12 at 517 Martin Rd., Atmore.
The Evening with the Elders is held every six months and the theme changes with each based on what information the Tribe receives, according to officials.
Next week’s event will have to do with the Tribal Council and the voices of their families who were interviewed by former Tribal Attorney Hugh Rozelle, according to the event’s Facebook page.
Leasha Martin, assistant archivist with PCI, said every time the Tribe receives new information and new documents from the University of West Florida, they create a story line for the event.
“This one just happens to be Rozelle and McGhee when they were doing an election of the Tribal Council,” she said.
Martin said anyone who would like to do an interview with Dr. Ortiz of UWF can do so. He will be here from June 11-13.
