If you drive around, you see a lot of good

On a typical weekend when in town, I drive around a lot.
Whether it’s on an errand or just to drive around, this past time of mine is one that relaxes me in a way.
Last weekend, as I made my way back to the office for something — for which I don’t remember — I noticed a father with his two boys.
Behind the Atmore Advance office, a family lives in a small house with a pretty big fenced-in yard.
It’s quite often when I get ready to go home that I’ll see father and son playing catch outside, or shooting hoops.
It was on this day last weekend when I saw all three walking across the street to a big patch of grass for some catch.
That little moment brought a smile to my face as I recalled when I would play catch with my father.
And it also made me think about the times when I’d beg to go play golf with him. Usually, when he’d get done with his round, I’d ask if we could go back out and hit some golf balls.
“Of course,” he would say.
Those were some pretty good times and some that I’ll never forget.
One of the best parts of getting to hit golf balls with my father is the reward afterward.
I would always beg him for a bottle of Gatorade. Now, in those days, they made Gatorade in glass bottles, not like today’s plastic.
My flavor of choice — orange.
That was the best Gatorade and arguably, other than blue berry, is the best today.
It’s pretty strange how one action can bring about a myriad of memories of childhood, even if it was just me driving around observing a father and son going to play catch.
