The Jay Royals topped Flomaton 20-17 to win the Cal Ripken 10U District 7 tournament on June 19 in Atmore.

The Royals fought back from a 5-0 deficit to cut the game to 5-4 in the third inning. Then, a back-and-forth battle ensued.

The Canes scored nine runs in the fifth inning, compared to Jay’s eight.

What tipped Jay over the edge was a four-run fifth.

Flomaton’s Braden Nall went 1-for-2 with a double and three runs; Lee Steele went 2-for-2 with a double and three runs; Riley Harrison went 3-for-4 with a double, two singles and a run; Luke Fore went 2-for-2 with a double and two runs; Easton Himes scored two runs; Easten Odom scored two runs; and Gavin Rogers went 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs. Braxton Jernigan scored one run.

Jay’s Harrison went 2-for-4 with two singles; Norris went 2-for-3 with a triple; Godwin went 3-for-5 with a home run; Marcantel went 2-for-4 with a double; Jordan went 1-for-5 with a double; and Cobb went 1-for-2 with a single.

Jay and Flomaton advance to the 10U state tournament, which will be held in Childersburg beginning tomorrow, Thurs., June 28.
