Atmore’s 12U Cal Ripken All-Stars to start state bid Friday

Atmore’s 12U Cal Ripken All-Stars will play in the state tournament in Bay Minette this coming weekend.

The tournament format is pool play June 29-30, and bracket play on Sunday. The top two teams from each pool will advance to bracket play.

There are three pools — A, B and C. Atmore is in Pool B with Fairhope A, Thomasvill and Lineville.

Daphne, Brewton, Phenix City and Citronelle make up Pool A; and Bay Minette, Flomaton, Fairhope B, New Site and Westside make up Pool C.

Atmore is slated to play two games on Friday, and one on Saturday in pool play action. The following are Atmore’s games Friday and Saturday:

June 29

• Atmore vs. Lineville, 1 p.m.

• Atmore vs. Fairhope A, 4:30 p.m.

June 30

• Atmore vs. Thomasville, 1:30 p.m.

Bracket play, which is single elimination, is slated to begin at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
