After a five-month certification process, Muskogee Technology received its designation as an AS9100D manufacturer, Creek Indian Enterprises Development Authority announced Monday.

The AS9100 is quality management standard specifically written for the aerospace industry, and is based on the ISO:9001 quality management (QMS) standard, according to a release. The process involves an application for registration, an assessment and the issue of certification.

“The Tribe is proud of the Muskogee Technology team and its newly gained designation as an AS9100D manufacturer,” PCI Chair and CEO Stephanie Bryan said in a release. “This is a testament to the standard of quality that MT adheres to and we look forward to seeing the positive impacts from this certification.”

MT President and CEO Westly Woodruff said it’s important to have these certifications for the advancement of aerospace technology.

“In a global economy, aviation, space and defense manufacturing suppliers such as Muskogee Technology are presented the test of producing and delivering safe and trustworthy products across a wide range of customer requirements and demands,” Woodruff said. “In an effort to address diverse quality requirements and expectations, while also reducing costs, the SAE AS9100 family of standards was developed by international aerospace industry representatives to standardize international aerospace quality management system requirements. The recent AS9100D revisions incorporate significant changes to these requirements, and suppliers are compelled to adopt and/or revise their common management system structure to comply. This process is vital for the aerospace supply chain industry to ensure expansive measures are implemented and enforced to ensure the safety and reliability of private, military and commercial services. We hold the importance of these standards in the highest regard.”

With the certification, CIEDA said in a statement that a plan is in place to reorganize MT’s business model to concentrate on the high-profit aerospace and defense manufacturing sectors.

Muskogee Technology provides a variety of services to meet the needs of the aerospace, defense, heavy machinery, wind energy, and oil and gas industries. Services include composite fiber cutting and kitting, inventory management, metal fabrication, precision machining and manufacturing.
