CPC forms new program

Escambia County’s Children’s Policy Council announced Monday the creation of the New Horizons Program for Atmore.
New Horizons is a mentorship program for youth ages 11to16yrs of age residing in Escambia County, Ala.
The program is an eight-month program meeting every fourth Saturday of the month during the academic school year, Director Felicia Bishop said.
Bishop said the program offers leadership and therapy sessions that will focus on developing youth into leaders by living life with high standards and preparing them for a successful future, according to officials.
New Horizons will address topics such as, choices versus consequences, peer pressure, decision making skills, self-esteem, as well as academic and career goal setting, to name a few.
Along with these important discussions they will also offer educational excursions, team building exercises and recreational developmental outings.
Applications are available for students and parents at Escambia County High School and Escambia County Middle School.
