The Atmore City Council approved a $11.6 million 2018-19 operating budget at its meeting on Tuesday.

Mayor Jim Staff said the budget, essentially, is like it was last year.

The police department and subsidies and appraisals departments were budgeted over $2 million for the coming year, taking 49 percent of the budget.

General government, the first department and street and sanitation departments were budgeted over $1 million each. or 37 percent of the budget.

In other business, the council:

• approved an ABC License transfer to Chris McElhaney at Gather; and,

• adopted the 08-2018 resolution for an airport improvement grant for 2019.
