Three area basketball teams are ranked in this week’s Alabama Sports Writers Association poll, which was released today.

Escambia County’s boys are No. 9 in Class 4A after improving to 15-4 during a Monday rout over W.S. Neal.

The Blue Devils have a big area game coming up Friday against Williamson, who they topped last week on a last-second shot. Tip off in Atmore is around 7 p.m.

Williamson, who is No. 3 in the 4A, fell to UMS-Wright on Tuesday, falling to 16-7 on the season. UMS is No. 5 in the poll.

In AISA, Escambia Academy is No. 9 at 12-6 on the season.

The Cougars defeated Central Christian Tuesday night, lost to Monroe Academy on Monday, and beat Clarke Prep and Jackson Academy last week.

EA visits Success Unlimited on Friday.

In girls, T.R. Miller is still No. 3 at 15-2 on the season.

The Lady Tigers defeated Flomaton 60-20 on Tuesday night.
