APD: Lock your cars

Residents reported several complaints of cars being broken into on Jan. 20, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Chief Chuck Brooks said in a release that the APD received responded to several complaints on Old Bratt Road, Godwin Road and Hodgen Drive to calls about unlawful breaking and entering a vehicle.

Brooks said home owners in the areas reported to the APD that sometime during the early morning hours, suspect(s) allegedly entered several vehicles and stole items from inside of the cars.

There were also reports of cars being entered, but no items were stolen, he said.

Brooks said the stolen property listed in the reports include guns, cash and other various items.

Additionally, on Jan. 22, the APD was called to several locations around the Deer Creek Road and James Road area concerning other car break ins, Brooks said.

“The Atmore Police Department encourages everyone to be alert of any suspicious activity in your neighborhood,” he said. “Atmore Police also reminds everyone to secure your valuables by removing them from your car. Please lock your vehicles.”
