Lady Blue Devils aim to get stronger

Escambia County wants to get stronger in pitching as the Lady Blue Devils’ softball team gears up for its season, which begins Feb. 18.

Coach Stephanie Adams said Skylar Riley took most of the load last season, and a big aim is to get other girls to help supplement.

Adams said this week is the first full week of practice for the girls.

Returning to the field this season include returning starters Brianna McGowin at catcher; Coteyia Martin at first base; Nigeria Bradley at third base; Jykeria Wilson at shortstop; Jakiyah Hixon at second base; Jacala Roberts at left field; Kadasia Craft at center field; and Tytia Woods at right field.

Adams said this year’s team is a good group, and the big key is making sure all are coachable.
