Cleveland Franklin Boatwright

Mr. Cleveland Franklin Boatwright, 78, passed away on Tues., Feb. 19, 2019, at his home in Atmore.

He was a native and former resident of Georgiana and had resided in Atmore for the past 43 years. He was a retired carpenter with 60 years of experience and was of the Church of Christ Faith.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Lillie Boatwright; wife of 39 years, Lillie Mae Boatwright; two brothers, Melton Boatwright and Vernon Boatwright; and three sisters, Nellie Wiggins, Willie Faye Eady and Annie Mae Eady.

He is survived by one son and daughter in law, Greg and Theresa Boatwright of Canoe; two daughters, Lechia Boatwright of Flomaton and Cyndi Merritt of Bay Minette; one sister, Elaine and Randy Sexton of Greenville; two grandsons, Steven Flowers and Christopher Boatwright; three granddaughters, Amanda Jay, Nikki Merritt and Tierani Perry; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Feb. 24 from the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Malcolm Harrelson officiating.

Burial followed at the Bowman Cemetery.

Visitation was held Feb. 24 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Dudley Flowers, Ricky Harrelson, Roger Jay, Jimmy Boutwell, Waylon Bryers, Dewayne Young and Mikey Harrelson.

Eurline Gibson Pearson

Eurline Gibson Pearson, 82, of Poarch, passed away Feb. 22, 2019, in Mobile.

She was born on March 13, 1936, in Atmore to the late Steve and Rosie Scoggins Gibson. She was a retired seamstress from Vanity Fair and was a member of Pleasant Hill Holiness Church.

She is preceded in death by her brothers, Carlos Gibson, Eugene Gibson and Obie McGhee.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Ralph Pearson of Poarch; one son, Paul (Carolyn) Pearson of Poarch; grandson, Justin Pearson; step-grandson, Nathan Lambeth; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services were held Feb. 26, 2019 from the Atmore Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. William Rolin and Bro. Johnny Cardwell officiating. Interment followed in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Uriah.

Active pallbearers were Tommy Godwin, Danny Falkner, Christopher Blackburn, Bo McGhee, Odell McGhee and Marion McGhee. Honorary pallbearers were Doug Miller, Duke Bohanon and Authur Mothershed.

Visitation was held Feb. 25 from the Atmore Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.

James Lavon Roley

James Lavon Roley, 78, of Atmore, passed away on Feb. 17, 2019, at his home in Atmore.

He was born in Atmore on Aug. 11, 1940, to the late Samuel and Bessie Godwin Roley. He attended Ernest Ward High School and later served in the Army National Guard.

He attended Atmore First Assembly of God Church. He owned and operated James Roley Construction Co. for over 40 years. He had a true love for his family and friends and never failed to tell you or show you.

All the little ones knew when they saw him, he would give them “head sugar” kisses. He loved to hunt, fish, ride his golf cart around the neighborhood to visit with friends and enjoyed taking them for a ride. He enjoyed spending time at his hunting camp in Vredenburgh. He was also known for giving endearing nicknames to everyone.

He was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, JoAnn Morgan Roley; his children, Debra (Clark) Tims of Robertsdale, Patsy (J. Paul) Pepin of Tampa, Fla. and Michael (Katie) Roley of Atmore; stepchildren, Cheryl (Tony) Datuin of Florence, Johnny (Mona) Jones of Holliday, Texas, Ricky (Lisa) Jones of Century, Fla. and Dina Jones of Byrneville, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Feb. 21 from Atmore First Assembly of God Church with Bro. Keith Lisenby officiating. Interment was held at Godwin Cemetery in Bratt, Fla.

Visitation was held Feb. 21 at Atmore First Assembly of God Church.

Pallbearers were Bobby Freeman, Shannon Lambeth, Carl Ward, David Davis, Bret Wallace and Mark McCall. Honorary pallbearers were James Womack, Raymond Jerkins, Eddie Baker, Blake Harris and Tony Thompson.

Arrangements were provided by Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

John Henry Carter

John Henry Carter of Century, Fla., was born on Aug. 5, 1951, to Vida Lee and Samuel Carter. His transition from time to eternity took place at the age of 67 on Feb. 23, 2019.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tyneeka Carter; and two great-grandchildren.

He leaves to mourn his loss eight children; four sons, Clifton Carter, Kurt Carter, David Carter and Joshua Carter; four daughters, Shana Carter, Tawanda Carter, Angela Carter and April Marshall; two sisters, Emma Carver of Ocala, Fla. and Minnie Williams of Century; one brother, Richard Carter of Century; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be this Sat., March 2, 2019, at Empowerment Temple Church in Century, at 2 p.m.

Mark Lawrence

Mr. Mark Lawrence, 67, passed away on Mon., Feb. 18, 2019, in Bay Minette.

He was a native and former resident of London, England, U.K., and had resided in Atmore for the past two years. He was a member of the Atmore Baptist Temple Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Gladys Lawrence.

He is survived by his wife, Lana Williams Lawrence of Atmore; one daughter, Lori Moore of Atmore; and one grandchild, Seth Clemmons.

Funeral services were held Feb., 22, 2019, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel with the Rev. Doug Odom officiating.

Burial followed at Serenity Garden Cemetery.

Visitation was held Feb. 22 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Eric Brodbent, Tyler Brodbent, Jerry McElhaney, Doug Frost, Jace Beasley and Mike Prewitt.

Honorary pallbearers were Alvin Brown, Mike Bethea and Stewart Woolard.

Family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to assist with funeral expenses.

Patricia McGhee Moody

Mrs. Patricia McGhee Moody, 63, passed away on Tues., Feb. 19, 2019, in Atmore.

She was a native of Sikeston, Mo., former resident of Eufaula and had resided in Atmore for the past nine years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Hurley and Nelda McGhee; grandson, Tyler Christopher Nelson; two brothers, James McGhee and Larry Holt; and sister, Mable St. Germaine.

She is survived by her two daughters, April Dawn Eisenman of Panama City Beach, Fla. and Leah Diane Powell (Chris) of Dothan; two brothers, Tom McGhee of Gates, Tenn. and Leon Holt of Blaine, Minn.; two sisters, Louise Glen of Sycamore, Ill. and Betty Finley of Sikeston; and five grandchildren, Elizabeth Anne Gibson, Victoria Grace Powell, Johnathan David Powell, Autumn Chanelle Eisenman and Summer Rose Eisenman.

Funeral services were held Feb. 23, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Roger Grandstaff officiating.

Burial followed at New Home Cemetery.

Visitation was held Feb. 23 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Chris Powell, Jeff Broadwater, Steven Eisenman, Darrell Hollinger, O’Dell McGhee and Marion McGhee.

Stephanie Redmond

On March 5, 1983, Stephanie Redmond, a beautiful angelic baby, was born to the parents of Joe and Jeannie Ferrell and Gary Nolan Sr.

As we reflect upon Stephanie, affectionately known as “Step’s” life story, it would begin retrospectively with her first five years of life being reared in a small rural family community known as Walnut Hill, Fla.

Step was a proud 2002 graduate of Escambia County High School. She was a loyal and dedicated member of Empowerment Tabernacle Christian Center. Her life passion and true calling was working alongside her mother, Mrs. Jeannie Ferrell, who is the owner and director of Lil’ Angels Development Center as a child care provider for the past 21 years. Step’s second passion was shopping, but most definitely her love for her family will forever be her legacy.

Stephanie made her sweet transition from time to eternity on Feb. 20, 2019. She is preceded in death by her son, Ayden Hubert; grandparents, Deloris Benjamin, Sammy and Rachel Redmond; uncles, Jerry Redmond, Robert Redmond, Henry Ferrell; and aunts, Annie Richardson and Joann Mitchell.

Those who will forever remember and cherish her legacy include three sons, Tommy Dortch Jr., Devin Kelly and Jayden Hubert; parents, Joseph and Jeannie Ferrell, Gary (Arvantes) Nolan Redmond; brothers, Joseph Ferrell Jr., Joshua Ferrell, Gary Nolan Redmond Jr., Trevis Redmond and Athesus Straughn; sister, Tarminyka Redmond; grandmother, Annie Ferrell; a special companion, James Hubert Jr.; three special devoted aunts, Alice Robinson, Dorothy Peacock and Nancy Fountain; devoted uncles, Leo Benjamin and Jeffrey Robinson; and a host of great aunts, great uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

A public visitation will be held Sat., March 2, 2019, from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m., and a celebration of life service will begin at 1 p.m. at Grace Fellowship Church, at 1412 E. Nashville St., Atmore. The Rev. Eugene King is host pastor with Bishop Catadro D. North as eulogist.

Willanette Troutman

Willanette Troutman, 82, of Atmore, passed away on Sat., Feb. 16, 2019, in Atmore.

She was retired from Escambia County Alabama School System as a secretary, born in Robinsonville on Dec. 16, 1936, to the late Ollie and Ruby Higdon Moye. She was a member of Robinsonville Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Malcolm “Mickey” Troutman; brother, Claude Moye; and sister, Earlene Helton.

Survivors are two daughters, Debra (Danny) Ward of Bratt, Fla. and Sandra (Gary) Marshall of Texas; two sisters, Gladys Stanton of Robinsonville and Gertrude Smith of Atmore; two grandchildren, Danielle Ward and Mickey J. Marshall; and three great-grandchildren, Noah J. Marshall, Tyler Ward and Ava Montmayor.

Services were held Feb. 22, 2019 from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Phil Johnson officiating.

Interment followed in Robinsonville Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers were Roger Helton, Charles Stanton, Terry Troutman, Randy Smith, Justin Beasley and Robin Swift.

Family received friends Feb. 22 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
