Mr. Willie Bernard Blackwell, 82, died Tues., March 26, 2019, in Pensacola, Fla.
He was a native of Excel, a former resident of Conecuh County and had resided in McDavid, Fla., since 1978. He was a veteran of the Vietnam conflict, serving with the U.S. Army, where he retired with 20 years of service and received two bronze stars. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved to fish, garden, travel and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Mary Blackwell.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marianne Blackwell of McDavid; a son, Juergen (Ursula) Blackwell of Ettlingen, Germany; two sisters, Doris Adams of McDavid and Faye (Jack) Merchant of Bluff Springs, Fla.; one grandson, Sven Blackwell; and one great-grandson, Sam Blackwell.
Visitation will be held tomorrow, Thurs., April 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Fri., April 5, at 10 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. William Chancery officiating.
Burial will follow at Ray’s Chapel Cemetery with Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be the Military Bodybearers.
