Danny Hugh Rowland

Danny Hugh Rowland, 70, of Stockton, passed away on Tues., May 21, 2019, at his residence. He was co owner of Snap On Tool Co., born in Swainsboro, Ga., on Oct. 5, 1948, to the late Hubert R. and Margaret Hayes Rowland.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors are his wife, Sara McGhee Dalrymple of Stockton; his step-

mother, Dorothy Rowland; three sons, Stoney Rowland of Milton, Donovan (Shannan) Brooks of Mobile and Shawn (Adrienne) Brooks of Pensacola, Fla; one daughter, Diane (Joey) Winston of Milton, Fla.; one brother, Glen (Billie)

Davis of Swainsboro; three sisters, Dottie (Allen) Durden, Pat (Clay) Brinson and Debra (David) Hall, all of Swainsboro; eight grandchildren, J.P., Junior, Trevin, Brayden, Ash, Katie, Megan and Kyla; and a number of great grandchildren.

Services were held May 25, 2019, from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Barry Lee and Bro. Leon McGhee officiating. Interment followed in New Home Cemetery. Active Pallbearers were Tim McGhee, Junior McGhee, Thomas Dalrymple, Kolby Dalrymple, J.P. Driggers, Vickie Johnson, Brayden Brooks and Trevin Brooks.  Honorary will be John Dalrymple and Kelton Dalrymple.

Family received friends May 24, 2019 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Carolyn Ann Peacock Rider

Carolyn Ann Peacock Rider, 72, of Atmore, passed away Wed., May 22, 2019, in Atmore.

She was a retired phlebotomist from Atmore Community Hospital, born on Dec. 23, 1946 in Sylacuaga to the late Cecil James and Virgie Mae Ellison Peacock.

She is preceded by her parents; and a sister, Cecila Peacock

Survivors are two daughters, Kimberly Ann Mason of Wawbeek, and

Lisa Denise Brown of Flomaton; one grandchild, Billie Lee Ellis; two brothers, Curtis James (Betty) Peacock of Grand Bay and Bobby Peacock of Oregon; two sisters, Linda Gail (Cecil) Daniel of Atmore; and Glinda Sue McCledon of Canoe.

Graveside services were May 28, 2019 in Serenity Gardens Cemetery with Bro. Ricky Tedder officiating. Interment will follow in Serenity Gardens Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Jakob Burkett, Henry Tedder, Brandon Tedder, Darian Eliand, Travis Sunday and Timothy Powers.

Family will receive friends May 28, 2019 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Steven Wayne Carter

Mr. Steven Wayne Carter, 44, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2019 in Destin, Fla.

Mr. Carter was a native of Ocean Port, N.J., former resident of Byrneville, Fla. and had resided in Jay, Fla. for the past six years.

He was a 1992 graduate of Century High School, a member of the Jay Band Boosters and Pine Level Baptist Church. He was employed with CSX Railroad for the past 13 years. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Sanford C. and Alice Bush, and Lance and Nina Carter.

He is survived by his parents, Lance C. (Mary Alice) Carter of Century; wife of four years, Dawn Carter of Jay; two sons, Xavier Carter of Casper, Wy. and Devin Enfinger of Jay; two daughters, Kaedence Carter of Casper and Brittany Lewis of Jay; and three brothers, Matt (Dawn) Carter of McDavid, Mark (Shila) Carter of Byrneville and William (Marissa) Rawlinson of Norfolk, Va.

Funeral services were held June 1, 2019, at the Pine Level Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Oakes and Rev. Nathan Brown officiating.

Burial followed at the Pine Level Cemetery.

Visitation was held May 31, 2019, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Jason Holley, Bobby Franklin, Matt Brooks, Lynd Coxwell, Jason White and Brian Hall.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can made to the Steven Carter Memorial Scholarship Fund at Gulf Winds Bank.

Buford Deuel Nall

Buford Deuel Nall, 95, and longtime resident of Mobile, passed away on Sun., May 26, 2019.

He is survived by his daughters, Karen Nall (Robert) Gross and Charlotte Griffin (Larry) Johns; grandchildren, Monica (Jason) Hester, Meredith (Mark) Litton, Amanda (Jarrod) Redden and Jonathan (Sheree) Griffin; 12 great-grandchildren and a large extended family.

He was a member of Woodbridge Baptist Church and previously a long time member of Seven Hills Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held Sat., June 1, 2019, from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home. Interment followed in Springhill Memorial Gardens.

Julius James Flowers

Mr. Julius James Flowers, 99, passed away on Sun., June 2, 2019, in Bay Minette.

Mr. Flowers was a native of Monroe County, former resident of Goodway and had resided in Spanish Fort for the past 10 years.

He was a hard working father, loved to farm, from daylight to dark and was a very minute (impatience) person.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Willie Mae Flowers; son, James Flowers; granddaughter, Samantha Wilkerson; several sisters; one brother; two son in laws; and his favorite companion, Scooter.

He is survived by his two daughters, Ann Russell of Spanish Fort and Lois Davis of Goodway; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Graveside services were held June 4, 2019, at Serenity Garden Cemetery with Rev. Randy Davis officiating.

Carl Williams

Carl Williams, 55, passed away on May 28, 2019.

Funeral Services will be held this Sat., June 8, 2019, 11 a.m. at the Union Missionary Baptist Church of Stockton with Mayberry Funeral Home, 149 Carver Ave., Atmore, directing

 

Selwondra L. Pugh

That which was is no longer, what is now may seem a mystery, but what is left are everlasting memories of the beauty and faithfulness of a life, Selwondra L. Pugh, that is now at rest. This is the nature of things.

Let not the pain be our anthem but the joy of the Lord be our strength.

The clock of life for Pugh was wound up by God and started ticking on Oct. 29, 1978, in Mobile. She is the daughter of the late, Gloria Ann Miles. Shay was a faithful member of the Solid Rock Ministries and served on both the praise team and choir.

She was a proud graduate of Benjamin Russell High School in Alexander City.

On Mon., May 27, 2019, God sent the angel of death to the bedside of Pugh, filling heaven with the most loving and beautiful angel to walk his streets of gold.

She leaves to cherish, three loving daughters, Sekwondria (Johnnie) Coleman, Deveatrius and Willishia Pugh; five siblings, Emanuel, Monique, Nathaniel, Travis Dansby and Lavanda Taylor; also the daughter of Selvin J. Carson, Bishop Lavender (Hazel) Miles; a conjoined family of six more siblings, Lisha Rhoden, Michael, Pastor Corey (Angela) McCoy, Nicandra, Shareese and Devon Flenord.

Her legacy of love and life is carried on through a special aunt, Gloria Morson and Sister Latreace Williams; aunts and uncles, Tara, Chris, Alice, Mary, Martha, Fanny, Jeanette, Crystal, Curtis and Gloria Morson; nieces and nephews, Clinton, Kaitlyn, Jayden, Aliyah, Diamond, Jarmcus, McKenzie, McKinley, Destinee, Jasmine, Lakendrick, Zedrick and Kamari; grandmother, Ann “Madea;” best friends, Rachel, Tootie, Stacey and Erica Malone; as well as many other family and friends.

A funeral service was held June 1 at Solid Rock Ministries in Mobile with Dr. Mary Young as presiding eulogist.

The services were directed by Mayberry Funeral Home, 149 Carver Ave., Atmore, AL 36502.

 

Melanie Kinman Owens

Mrs. Melanie Kinman Owens, 46, passed away on Sun., June 2, 2019, in Atmore.

Mrs. Owens was a native and life long resident of Atmore.

She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and niece. She was a member of the Poarch Creek Indians, the Atmore Apostolic Church, loved music, travel and the beach.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Myrtis McGhee Kinman; paternal grandparents, Quincy and Elizabeth Kinman; and maternal grandparents, Levi and Treacy McGhee.

She is survived by her father, David L. Kinman of Atmore; husband, Wesley K. Owens of Atmore; two sons, Logan Dewayne Boatwright of Marianna, Fla. and Jacob Keith Owens of Killen; one daughter, Madelyn Hope Boatwright of Atmore; one brother, David Allen (Jessica Ramsey) Kinman of Atmore; one niece, Kendall Izabella Kinman of Atmore; and one nephew, Hayden Connor Kinman of Atmore.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow, Thurs., June 6, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the Atmore Apostolic Church with the Rev. Tim James and Bro. Hunter Richardson officiating.

Burial will follow at the New Home Cemetery.

Visitation will be held today, Wed., June 5, 2019, from 6 p.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at the Atmore Apostolic Church.

Pallbearers will be Arthur Mothershed, Kevin McGhee, Derrick McGhee, Darren McGhee, Allen Smith and Douglas “Nosh” Bennamon.

Honorary pallbearers will be Anthony Peebles, Quincy Kinman Jr., the Rev. Kelvin Williams, Jeremy Dewise, Joseph McGhee, James Ross Railey, Scott Jackson, Steven McGhee, Greg McGhee, Ryan Exum, James Roberson, Josh Burkett, Rodney Exum, Drummon Sadler and Wayne Williams.

Eunice Sasser Reynolds

Eunice Sasser Reynolds passed away on June 4, 2019.

She was born in Atmore.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Annie Lenora Luker Sasser; father, Wilson Leroy Sasser; her husband, John Percy Reynolds Jr.; her son, John Percy Reynolds III; three sisters, Carolyn Sasser Hetzel, Marie Sasser Bryant and Evelyn Sasser Dillree; and two brothers, Edward Leroy Sasser and Max Farrell Sasser.

Mrs. Reynolds was a member of First Independent Methodist Church.

She worked for AT&T for 33 years.

After retiring, she was active in the Skyland Park Garden Club, and AT&T Pioneers.

Survivors are her son, Jeffery Paul Reynolds of Jackson, Miss., his wife, Rebecca; and three granddaughters, Emily Jane, Kathryn Cory and Parker Marie.

Visitation will be held this Sat., June 8, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street.

Funeral is set to begin at noon.

A graveside service will follow at Flomaton Cemetery, Upper Creek Road, Flomaton.
