A good Samaritan helped a Freemanville woman out of a jam on July 4.

Charlotte Odom of Freemanville was near Escambia Point and had a flat tire.

Odom said they pulled over, and her hired driver, Sunny Moore, got out of the car to fix the tire. She requires a driver because of health problems.

Odom said Moore, who has heart trouble, was standing outside in the heat trying to figure out the situation, when someone pulled up asking for help.

“All of a sudden, this real nice guy came and he stopped and said, ‘hey you need some help?’” Odom said. “(Moore) told him he was trying to get his breath, and he has a heart problem.

“The guy brought a compressor out and it didn’t work,” she said. “Him and a cab driver, and one of his friends got the spare tire out and put it on.”

Odom thought the good Samaritan, Nathan Burkett, of Byrneville, Fla., was very nice to help.

Odom said Burkett works with Coastal Electric in Jay and Flomaton.

“He said ‘I didn’t let that stop me,’” she said. “He was very nice, and I thought he was a good Samaritan.”
