Commission approves inmate phone bid

The Escambia County Commission awarded an inmate telephone system bid on Aug. 12.
The commission awarded the bid to Combined Public Communications.
Commissioner Karean Reynolds said the video telephone system allows inmates to make video calls.
Reynolds said a feature of the system allows inmates to call home.
In other business, the commission:
- approved the appointment of Charlotte Boyle and Lt. John Stallworth to the Escambia County Emergency Communications district board;
- approved the appointment of Chairman Raymond Wiggins to the ACCA Legislative Committee. Wiggins has served on the committee for the past few years; and,
- approved a speed limit posting on Mike Street in the Riverview Community. The speed limit is 10 miles per hour.
