Mr. Danny Edward Ray, 71, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2019, in Pensacola, Fla.
Mr. Ray lived most of his life in Georgia, Florida and Alabama and resided in Atmore for last 15 years of his life. He was a member of the V.F.W. Pensacola and the American Legion of Atmore. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Ray was a retired over the road truck driver. He was a member of the American Truckers Association, and was awarded the Living Legend Award.
He is preceded in death by his wife, the love of his life, Rebecca Ray; a daughter, Dana Ray; and two brothers Donny Ray and Jerry Ray.
He is survived by his three sons, Eddie Ray (Charlotte) of Florala, Christopher Ray (Alice) of Atmore and Michael Ray (Christy) of Hurricane, W.V.; two daughters, Mellisa Ann Sapp (Emory) Morrisett of East Colquitt, Ga. and Carla Ray of St. Albans, W.V.; two sisters, Vera Ray of Colquitt and Tina Ray of Florala; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow, Thursday, September 26, 2019, at 10 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Kathleen Chavers and Bro. Steve Massengil officiating.
Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held today, Wednesday, September 25, 2019, from 6-8 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Simpson, Aaron Miller, Lee Graves, Chris Croom, Casey Givens and Dakota Parker.
Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes LLC of Atmore is in charge of all arrangements.
