Christmas has come to Atmore.

Starting tomorrow night, the city and surrounding areas will be celebrating the holiday season with annual events and parades.

• The Jingle Bell Walk will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., in downtown Atmore. The annual shopping event is hosted by The Junky Pearl, Poarch Creek Indians, United Bank, Allegiance Apparel and Custom Designs, Tiger Lily A Baby and Children’s Boutique, Vin-Tiques and Hawt Mess Boutique.

• The PCI Christmas Parade has been canceled. No reason was given.

• Santa in the Park will be held this Sat., Dec. 7, from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Heritage Park. L House Photography will be taking photos of boys and girls having their pictures made with Santa after he arrives on the lighted Atmore train. Additionally, hot cocoa will be served, and participants will be able to enjoy a Christmas cookie, write a letter to Santa, make reindeer food and event visit a real Elf on the Shelf, according to the Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce’s Facebook page.

• The annual Chili Cookoff will be held on Sat., Dec. 14, 2019, at Heritage park, from noon until 2 p.m. The cookoff will have food options and fun for participants, according to the chamber’s Facebook page. Participants in the chili cookoff are competing to be crowned Chili Champion. Additionally, awards will be given for first, second, third and People’s Choice. With no entry fee and open to both members and non-members alike, this is a great opportunity to help your community while having fun, chamber officials said. Tickets are $10 each. Each ticket contains one favorite ticket and five taste tickets. Throughout the event, a chamber representative will collect the tickets and tally them. For every ticket received, participants will receive one vote. At approximately 1:30, chamber officials will announce the final collection. At approximately 2:15, a new chili champion will be announced.

• The annual Twilight Christmas Parade is Sat., Dec. 14, from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. The parade is more than 2 miles long and runs down Main Street.
