Three area high school students were named as DAR Good Citizens, the Fort Mims Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution announced recently.

The 2019-20 good citizens are Gaines Tanner, Escambia Academy; Brenna Watson, Escambia County High School; and Mattie White, Flomaton High School.

The students were selected from the senior class of each school based on qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism, according to a release.

According to a  release, the DAR Good Citizens were eligible to participate in the National DAR Scholarship Contest, which included background information in school and community and an essay.

All three participated in the scholarship competition.

White is the Fort Mims Chapter NSDAR winner.
