NHS holds football, cheer banquet

Northview held its annual football and cheerleader banquet Monday night at Walnut Hill Baptist Church.

The Chiefs celebrated an 8-3 season, one in which, NHS hosted the first two rounds of the state playoffs.

NHS averaged 378.6 yards per game this year on the ground, and averaged 65.6 tackles each game.

Head football coach Derek Marshman presided over the banquet, recognizing each of the junior varsity players and those who earned individual awards.

Before awarding individual players for their accomplishments on the gridiron, Marshman recognized all of the seniors, including Will Beach, Gary Clayton, Garrick Davis, Cameron Findley, Jakob Gibson, Jacob Hawkins, Trent Kite, Tyler Kite, Aunterio Minor, Jojo Parker, Trent Peebles, Wyatt Rhinhart, Isaiah Walker, Ben Wilson and Wyatt Windham.

Individual awards went to the following: Clay Kittrell and Jamarkus Jefferson, top newcomer; Johnny Windham, offensive line award; Minor, defensive line award; Peebles and Jayden Jackson, offensive back award; Windham, linebacker award; Keyshawn Breedlove, defensive back award; Beach, academic award; Parker, chief award; Minor, Farm Bureau defensive most valuable player (MVP); Peebles, Farm Bureau offensive MVP; and Jackson, Farm Bureau MVP.

The cheerleaders were recognized at the start of the program for their contributions as well, leading the fan support.
