Thirty years ago, in 1990, businessmen in Atmore still had Christmas on their minds. The City of Atmore reported that they had a strong Christmas according to the city tax receipts.

He said that Dubose was seen in the area because he was looking for a drug deal at the time Stephanie King was kidnapped and murdered. The prosecutor, Assistant District Attorney, Reo Kirkland, made his case that DNA placed Dubose at the scene of the crime.
In another article, it was announced that security had been beefed up for the trial. Extra deputies were stationed at the entrances of the courthouse and a metal detector was installed.
Doug Godwin was giving flying lessons to his son, Mike, when the plane crashed near the Atmore Airport. Darrel Ledkins, an investigator from the Atmore Police Department said the pilot did a good job handling the plane.
A frequent topic of conversation for both Atmore and the county was the problem of landfills. It seems it was too costly for both of them.
