City council approves parade request

The Atmore City Council approved a parade request for Feb. 20, 2021 for the first ever African American Celebration at its meeting on Monday.

The parade was originally scheduled for April 18, 2020 in appreciation of Black History Month, but Sherese Craft said she needed more timem to get everything together for the parade.

In other business, the council:

  • adopted Resolution 2020-02, property that needed to be sold that is no longer needed for municipal purposes;
  • adopted Resolution 2020-04, fixing the costs reasonably incurred in the demolition or repair at 154 Trout St.;
  • adopted Resolution 2020-05, fixing the costs reasonably incurred in demolition or repair at 1126 S. Presley St.;
  • adopted Relution 2020-06, fixing the costs reasonably incurred in demolition or repair at 214 Mobile St; and,
  • hear from Dr. Isabel Scarinci of the University of Alabama-Birmingham Comprehensive Cancer Center. She talked about HPV.
