ECSS: Law enforcement investigating student, admin threats at ECMS

Law enforcement officials are investigating threatening posts made to students and administrators at Escambia County Middle School, according to officials.
The Escambia County Schools System posted a release on its Facebook page, saying that the Atmore Police Department and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating and will continue to investigate until they find the responsible parties.
“Law enforcement from the Atmore Police Department and Escambia County Sheriff’s Office will be on site at the school (ECMS) tomorrow to provide security and support,” the post said. “In addition, school personnel will have additional security measures in place. Ensuring the safety of our students and staff remains our top priority and we will continue close communication with local law emforecement.”
Superintendent John Knott said today that he understands if parents want to keep their kids from attending school tomorrow.
