Escambia Academy won the 2020 AISA Overall State Powerlifting title last week.

The Cougars had two who broke state records, including Senior Tyler Newton, who placed first in the super heavyweight division and broke the state record with a 605-pound deadlift; and Senior Chase Bell, who placed first in the 140-pound weight class and broke the state records with a 430-pound deadlift.

Other winners who placed in their weight classifications included:
•Seniors- Matthew Brittingham, Orlando Medina and Ty’rese Smith
•Juniors- Randal Bonds, Troy Fountain, Daughtry McGhee, Parker Robinson and Josh Spruill
•Sophomores- Christopher Long and JJ Stevens
•8th Grade- Eli Covington and Shawnton Riley
•7th Grade- ST Clark and Kelan Jurey
