Bro. Walter Hentry “Pete” Keys made his peaceful transition on March 21, 2020, at Springhill Memorial Hospital in Mobile.

He was a native of Deer Park and longlife resident of Detroit, Mich., and later moved to Mobile with his loving younger sister, Glaydene Keys Franks.

At an early age, he confessed his life to Christ and becamse a member of New Light MBC under the leadership of the Rev. John Gary.

Keys was born on Feb. 19, 1949, in Leakesville, Miss., to the union of Willie Perry (Eldan Dessie Covan) Keys, who preceded him in his transition. Also preceding him in his transition was his son, Angelo Capito; grandparents, Fred and Dora Keys, Bill and Betty Covan; three brothers, Willie Jerome McIntyre, Bishop C.E. Hughes and Donnie Keys; two sisters, Betty Dora Keys and Mary Ann Buckhalter; and two brothers in law, David Franks and Danny Williams.

He leaves to cherish his many precious memories four devoted children, Tyrone Keys, Raphael Capito of Detroit and Adrian Keys of Millry, DeGenia (Lester) Meyers of Leakesville; three devoted sisters, Glaydene Keys Frnaks of Mobile, Darlene and Earlene McIntyre of Escatawpa, Miss; two devoted brothers, Otha James Keys of Deer Park and Apostle W.F. (Dr. James Etta) Hughes of Grand Prairie, Texas; stepdad, Willie McIntyre of Three Rivers, Miss.; a stepdaughter, Erica Henderson of Detroit; two devoted sisters in law, Prophetess Patricia Hughes of Mobile and willie Carol Rucker of Trinity Garden; a devoted brother in law, Jerald White of Mobile; a host of devoted grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends too numerous to name.

Active pallbearers were David Pruitt, Douglas Mealing, Jerel Ransom, Jabari Williams, Marcus Vaughn and Rodriezus Bivens.

The family of Keys would like to express its sincerest appreciation for all the prayers, acts of love, kindness, phone calls, visits and expressions shown during this difficult time.
