The Escambia County Schools System’s free meals program has been canceled because of the statewide stay-at-home order that was issued today, according to officials.

Assistant Superintendent Beth Drew said at this time, the system is looking at other ways to assist.

Drew said the system doesn’t want to risk putting its staff in danger, and at the same time, continue to ask people to break the governor’s order.
