Atmore Community Hospital (ACH) announced in mid-February a partnership with Montgomery Radiology Associates.

Since then, ACH has been busy securing a new CT scanner and new ultrasound machine that are both scheduled to be in service this month. Additionally, the digital mammography machine received the ACR reaccreditation seal of approval in February 2020.

“The radiology team has been working very hard over the last several months,” said Suzanne McGill, ACH interim administrator in a release. “Not only have we added the 24-hour reading capability by partnering with Montgomery Radiology, our radiology team also was working on upgrading equipment and getting our hospital prepared to fully support our community.”

The radiology team at ACH worked with Montgomery Radiology Associates to begin providing imaging and interventional services to ACH with 24/7 coverage, according to a release.

The team also worked to upgrade the hospital’s CT scanner. The upgraded CT scanner features a 128-slice scanner, which is only one of two in the region. The new scanner will allow for cleaner images and will emit less radiation than older models.

The radiology department also received a new ultrasound machine that will be able to be used in multiple patient visits by many different physicians and specialties. And in February, the ACR reaccredited the digital mammography machine.

“We have been busy obtaining equipment, recertification and implementing the right services for our community,” said Alisha Stabler, ACH radiology manager, said. “Our team is dedicated to providing the best care possible to our community.”

Physicians have the benefit of referring patients to ACH. As a patient, one can request that their radiological services be done in Atmore. Please see your local physician for a referral and for any medical advice.
