Severe weather slated for Sunday

There is an enhanced risk of severe weather forecasted for Escambia County, Ala. on Sunday, accordintg to the National Weather Service.
NWS Meteorologist David Eversole said in an email that the service’s assessment is that a significant severe weather event is possible over southeast Mississippi, southwest and south central Alabama and the western Florida panhandle.
“Currently, the storm prediction center has an ‘enhanced risk’ of severe weather over your area for the Sunday into Sunday night time frame,” Eversole said.
Eversole said there are two modes of severe weather that are expected to occur on Sunday.
“The first mode will be isolated severe storms which develop during the afternoon and continue until the second mode – a line of severe storms – moves through the area in the evening and overnight hours,” he said. “For your area, we see the potential for these isolated severe storms to affect your area as early as 2 p.m. in the afternoon followed by a squall line moving through your area near a midnight to 1 a.m. time window.”
Eversole said tornadoes, large hail and damaging wind gusts of 70 miles per hour or higher are possible with the event.
“In addition, we have issued a wind advisory for your area which is in effect from 10 a.m. Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday due to wind gusts up to 45 miles per hour,” he said. “Note that this wind advisory refers to strong wind gusts outside of any storms that develop. “
